Autumn Term 2:

Ryhope Village 100 years ago – Mining Life

This half term we will be ‘Historians’ by delving into the past! We will enquire and show curiosity about our local area, Ryhope Village, back 100 years ago exploring what life would have been like for a mining family. Alongside this, we will be learning how to write different genres of writing, such as a poem about bonfire night, an exciting character study as well as writing a set of instructions to make a Christmas decoration…. A busy, busy time!! Our children will become super ‘mathematicians’ whilst learning about addition & subtraction and shape!! Also, they will also be given the opportunity to broaden their knowledge through a wide range of learning across foundation subjects.

Our Local Area!!

This half term we will be exploring our local area, Ryhope Village, through geographical walks, making observations and understanding human and physical geography. Alongside this, we will be learning how to write different genres of writing, such as a narrative of a traditional tale, instructions and a persuasive letter! Our children will become super ‘mathematicians’ whilst learning about place value and number!! Also, they will also be given the opportunity to broaden their knowledge through a wide range of learning across foundation subjects.
